Badin crests the century mark in 2013 so the town will celebrate its first 100 years with a full year of exciting events and you are invited to join in the fun.

Sisters of the Swish get your dresses pressed and Brothers of the Brush let your whiskers wave, there will be costume contests and beard judging events throughout the year with pins to commemorate each and even shaving permits for the faint of beard.

Ladies don't forget to have your wide-brim dinner hats fluffed or bucket hats pressed and guys have your top hats, fedoras, derbies or bowlers blocked and ready to wear. Or look for the Better Badin kiosk at each event where you can pick up a few 1913 era items or other Badin 2013 Centennial items and really look the part.

Thanks to local business sponsorships the celebration is set to get underway. Alcoa Aluminum, which shares a rich and enduring history with Badin, is Signature sponsor for the milestone celebration with a special focus on two key events: a concert by jazz great and Badin native Lou Donaldson and the inaugural Historic Badin Hardaway Annual Powwow. Community member and local financial polestar Bank of Stanly is the centennial's Title sponsor and is helping make the year-long celebration a successful reality.
